If you want to build a boat, don’t gather men to chop wood, divide up tasks and give orders, but teach them nostalgia for the vast and infinite sea.
(Antoine de Saint-Exupéry)

If you have arrived on this page, it means that your passion for the sea and sailing occupies a lot of space in your life.
With great commitment KATABASIS FREEDIVING AND SAILING offers the following instructor training courses:
- Instructor for basic and advanced courses on small cabin cruisers
- Instructor for offshore sailing courses on large cabin cruisers

We have chosen UISP VELA as our didactics because we share its values for operating professionally in the Italian and European nautical world.
The training programs are modular and have the objective of providing future instructors with the necessary tools to be able to deal with and manage the issues of teaching sailing on small and large cabin cruisers in the best possible way.

The topics covered in the teaching modules are:
- Safety
- Learning environment and reception
- Technique
- Educational progression
A training course expects the technical skills of aspiring instructors to be of a good standard and for this reason it is strongly recommended that a review be carried out with the trainers themselves before the sailing instructor course where it will be possible to focus on any technical deficiencies and areas for improvement before the training course which will instead be geared towards ‘teaching how to teach’.

The training includes theoretical and practical phases and verification of expressive, organizational and supervisory skills in teaching activities. Topics relating to the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of boats are also addressed, as well as, thanks to UISP VELA’s extensive experience in the sector, an orientation of the teaching of sailing from a legal and fiscal point of view.

If the required standards are exceeded, a certificate will be issued and the participants will be included in the register of Italian technical operators of the national UISP.
