Ethical and Sustainable Spearfishing Course – Basic Level

October 2024: Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2  Basic level spearfishing course
In the beautiful setting of the Gulf of Baratti in Tuscany; a course that aims to be a starting point aimed at those who already have a freediving license and sufficient freediving technique to be able to deal with the issues of spearfishing and to be able to enjoy the teachings on spearfishing to the fullest.
!!A freediving certification is required to enter the course; it is ‘possible to arrange a freediving + fishing course package with Katabasis and get a discount on the total cost.

TOPICS COVERED
Equipment – Find out what you need and eliminate the unnecessary
Freediving technique – Flipping, finning, gliding, landing, restarting from the bottom, compensation
Variables – The impact that light, current, bottom and the behavior of small fish have
Spearfishing techniques – Cave fishing, ambush and waiting
Safety – Practicing freediving fishing safely is more than just a list of rules
Environment – Actively living respect for the environment, fish species and regulations with an active, proactive and demonstrative attitude.

15:30 – Exercises at Sea
17:30 – Debriefing
Wednesday 2nd
09:00 – Theory
10:00 – Exercises at Sea
12:00 – Debriefing and greetings
