Have you ever thought of doing a freediving or spearfishing course on a floating classroom? Maybe having the opportunity to practice what you are learning on your own together with your course mates and maybe even diving every day in a new bay, cove or even in the open sea? This year KATABASIS has decided to give you this fantastic opportunity!
You can in fact attend an SSI Freediving course on board a sailing boat during the Sailing Cruise that will take place in the Tuscan Archipelago from 19 to 26 July(link)
Theoretical lessons will be held on board, either in the morning or in the afternoon, depending on the sailing plan and weather conditions, and entering the sea will be the simplest and most immediate thing imaginable.
SSI Freediving Pool/1liv course: an introductory course to get to know freediving and learn the technique, but above all to get to know and love the sea, dedicated to all those who want to get involved, even boys/girls aged 12 and over! Topics relating to technique, physiology, safety and the marine environment will be covered, all using digital material that you can also view on your phone via the SSI App.
Participants: 2 to 5 students
Duration: from Saturday 19 to Friday 26 May 2025; times will be decided according to the sailing plan.

2 sessions of 3 hours (theory + confined waters)
2 sessions of 3 hours (theory + open water)
Maximum depth: 20 metres

BASIC SPEARFISHING COURSE
The opportunity to learn the art of spearfishing directly in the field, having the chance to practice what you have learnt on a daily basis.
The course aims to be a starting point for those who already possess sufficient freediving technique to be able to tackle spearfishing within 15 meters and be able to make the most of the teachings on spearfishing.
A freediving licence is required for access to the course.
TOPICS COVERED
Equipment – Find out what you need and eliminate the superfluous
Freediving technique – dickdive, finning, gliding, landing, restarting from the bottom, equalization
Variables – The impact of light, current, bottom and the behaviour of small fish
Fishing techniques – Cave, ambushing and waiting
Safety – Practicing freediving safely is more than just a list of rules.
Environment – Actively living respect for the environment, fish species and regulations with an active, proactive and demonstrative attitude.
THE SPEARFISHING COURSE PROGRAM
3 sessions of 3 hours (theory + sea).
The sessions will be decided according to the navigation plan
